Peter James, Ph.D.

Chair of Proteomics, Lund University, Sweden

Professor Peter James graduated from Oxford University and completed his Ph.D. at ETH (Swiss Institute of Technology Zurich) in 1990. After two years as a post-doctoral fellow at University of California San Francisco and at ThermoFinnigan, San Jose, he returned to ETH. He took the chair in proteomics at the Department of Electrical Measurements (LTH), Lund University, in 2001. He is a member of the Founding Board of the Human Proteome Organization (HUPO) and was chairman of the education committee . Peter is currently on the editorial boards of several leading journals and is Swegene’s manager of proteomics. Peter has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and reviews in the field of protein chemistry and proteomics and holds six patents in proteomics methodologies. His research field is protein analysis with a focus on protein-protein interaction, non-gel proteomics, membrane proteins and methods development for clinical proteomics.

Bishwajit Nag, Ph.D.

CEO, Nag Research Laboratories, Fremont, CA

Bishwajit holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, India, and then worked in association with the late Nobel Laureate Dr. Severo Ochoa at Roche Institute for Molecular Biology. After two years as a post-doctoral fellow in biological sciences at University of California Davis Medical School, he served as senior scientist at Berlex Biosciences in South San Francisco and director of research and development at Anergen in Redwood City, Calif. He was founder and CSO at both Calyx Therapeutics Inc. in Hayward and Bexel Pharmaceuticals in Union City, both in California. He has authored more than 150 publications and holds more than 100 patents worldwide. Bishwajit’s expertise is in drug discovery, capital raising, IPO, licensing and strategic developments.

Gerald Niesar

During this period he has represented a wide variety of clients from startups to Fortune 500 companies on virtually every phase of trademark and copyright practice. His heaviest area of industry concentration has been in the pharmaceutical and medical instrument industry. During his career, he has been associate director of trademarks for Squibb and director of trademarks for Revlon, when it had a one billion dollar pharmaceutical/medical instrument business. He has represented life science companies such as Astra Pharmaceutical, Hoefer and Protein Design Labs.
